Easter break

I imagined that having ten days off work over Easter would give me oodles of time to finish some of my projects. Yet in reality, I'm behind with my blog reading, have a pile of housework to clear and have barely made anything miniature. I think I spent so many days revelling in the idea of the holiday that I didn't manage to achieve anything.
Well, Finish it off Friday is here so I better post something. I've started putting the window frames into the extension of Fenton Lodge.

Simple process since they won't have any opening parts, inside frame...

Glass...

and then outside frame. The exterior will be rendered so the MDF won't be visible

Not very inspiring I know but it will get better.

Today is the closing day for the Shapeways 3D mini house contest.so I better hotfoot it over there and see what amazing designs people have come up with.

  1. Well, now you're gonna need a tiny telescoping squeegee. :D *oh, that's a fun word to spell*

    1. Haha, I often think what a pain in the arse it would be to have an ultra modern house full of glass. Right, telescoping squeegee coming up =0D

  4. Hi Pepper,

You are going too slowly as like me. Unfortunately daily work limits my minis. I would be happy if my life is just making miniatures...

    Whatever, waiting for new developments.

    1. Thank you Yunus. It would be so nice to make miniatures and nothing else but unfortunately work keeps me too busy =0)

  6. Sometimes the best holiday is just putting your feet up and ignoring the I should....

Thank you for the update. I am enjoying Friday's all the more now.

  7. I laughed when I read your words "I think I spent so many days revelling in the idea of the holiday that I didn't manage to achieve anything." That perfectly describes my last week as I had an extended Easter break but just didn't achieve near as much as I thought I would.

  8. I like what I see so far, Pepper, the extension has great possibilities.
And for the telescoping squeegee.......after a bit of translation of a squeegee, I'm curious to see something like that ;O! Well, I'll wait and see....
I do understand that making miniatures is not something you can do for a whole day long, 'unfortunately' we have a real life too ;). You also have to take some rest for getting new ideas and plans in your head. At least, that is for me ;).
    Wishing you a nice weekend.

  9. I've had seven weeks off since mid-December and am realising that even with all day to do things I'm still very very behind and haven't even thought to touch stuff that I believed I'd get to when I had some spare time.

Then again, I've done a show, built a café and edited a 36-page magazine. So perhaps I need to just decide there are some things I'm never going to get to and make peace with that...

    1. That makes me feel worse. I don't have anywhere near as many things to do and I'm behind. I'll take your advice, make peace with the fact that I'm a lazy mare at times haha =0)

  10. Okay, here I am to remind you that too much of whatever is never good... and it's important to have ugly tasks like household duties to make the bit of miniature time so precious and special. Did that help? Well... at least I tried... ;O) Your windows look stunning and now after I learnt this lovely word "squeegee" I really would like to see a miniature version... ;O)

  13. I have to avoid your blog to keep from dropping everything and start building :P Always inspiring...

When the opportunity arises, I love nothing better than to relax and enjoy simple pleasures; if that means doing nothing, so be it! Also had to unlearn the guilt and stop beating up on myself for it :^D

I totally agree. I spend more time beating myself up about what I haven't done than being happy about what I have done. Stupid really but I think we're all such perfectionists that we push too hard at times. Yes, relax and enjoy the simple pleasures =0)
