Been a while

It's been a while and yet I don't have much to show you. I'm blaming it entirely on Cyd at Mini Mod Pod and Sarah at Amber's House .

So first off, Cyd asked me if I fancied doing a swap. Well of course I said yes because who wouldn't want some fabulously retro miniatures made by Cyd's fair hands. So, that has pretty much had my attention for a while. If you've never done a swap with anyone then I would suggest you try it. It's a fantastic way to practice your skills, maybe make something from a different era and you get a bespoke collection of miniatures from someone you admire. Stay tuned for the big reveal =0)

The second reason for my absence - I just had to try a tutorial that Sarah kindly posted on her blog.

It started well -

and ended badly -

You've got to laugh! I'll admit I cursed...well a lot. I didn't glue the upright rods into place, thinking I could do it at the end. Nope!

But with a little dogged determination, I think I got there in the end.

Have a wonderful weekend

  1. Dear Pepper,
What a great job you did on the baskets. My friend at Beauxminis prepared a little kit for us at our recent mini get together and I am now working on my own basket.
It is a lot of fun but you have done it brilliantly!
    Regards Janine

  5. Hi Pepper! It's great to hear from you! No wonder you've been absent from the blogosphere for a while!! Once you got it right you went mad and made loads of baskets!!! They all look perfect too! Talk about learning from your mistakes, all different shapes and sizes, you are now a basket expert! Wonderful stuff!
    Kind regards, Brian.

  15. Fantastic baskets Pepper! I have a few unfinished baskets, they're part of the learning curve :D I like the way you did the handles on the pom pom basket! They're absolutely gorgeous, I'm thrilled for you that you've got basketry skills now, because I know you love mini baskets! :D You also have basket making addiction, I had that too :D They were one of the miniatures I found most satisfying to make and they don't take forever either. AHH so pleased you did it! I also love the little magazines, and your floorboard backdrop.

My only concern, I hope people don't think I have a step-by-step for these ones, I just pointed you in the right direction.... towards someone elses tutorials :D

P.s. Thanks for the Happy Birthday message, even though you broke the law! :) :D

    1. Sorry Sarah, I should have quantified the statement with 'the place to see awesome baskets that were made following a tutorial' My bad =0/ But you do give excellent advice on how you make things which is basically a tutorial =0D
Sorry for the law breaking too. What can I tell you...I'm badass haha

  20. Terrific work...of course! Um...I don't think anyone would want to do a swap with me if I used it as an opportunity to practice my err---"skills" in making items. They would be soooo disappointed! ha! People like you and Cyd and Brae just have the gift, man. Truth.
