21 again

Another year, another Birthday. Last week, I had to endure the excruciating game of my (male) co-workers guessing my age.  Most of them are street wise, guessed decades under and gave me a 'I'm still in your good books, right?' smile. One, standing close to an escape route, said fifty five as he darted out of the door. Ha! I'm cool with that. No midlife crisis going on here. I've done a lot, I've seen a lot and I love my life.

My friends and family have been overly generous as usual. I received a parcel from Mini Modern that was so thoughtful it made me squeal. There were a ton of goodies in there, but in particular, four Paris Renfroe wishbone chairs.How lucky am I since I was just about to order some from Paris. He hasn't listed them on his site yet, but he's posted a message on Flickr if you want to get your hands on some.

Thank you Dear Friend. We miss you!

Hubby spoiled me rotten. I received a Proxxon drill press/milling machine from him.

I have never used one before. Don't actually know how to use one so I'm relying on the expertise of the more experienced miniaturists out there to give me guidance. I feel a lot of You Tube tutorial time ahead. Now the question is, where do I put it? My kitchen is already looking like a hobby tool catalog has thrown up all over it.

I'm just about ready to start making some items for the inside of my shed. I'm hoping to get Danny Shotton's tools in there before the next millennium. I'm stuck with the door latch...don't know what to make or what will look right for an old shed like this.

That's my messy, real garden in the background...

I've really enjoyed doing the landscaping for this. It's getting there. The weathering never seems to be finished. It's hard to put down your paintbrush and say 'Okay, I think that is enough'

Right, I'm off to Scotland for a couple of days for some down time. Have a great weekend wherever you are

Pepper =0)

  2. Wishing you a Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you have a wonderful time in Scotland. :-)

    What fabulous gifts!!!!! They are all fantastic. I love the Proxxon drill press/milling machine. I am sure you will have it figured out in no time. I hope you can take it outside to use it. It is going to create a lot of dust. haha

    The shed is looking better and better. I love the hasp on the door. You just need a nice padlock for it now. :-)

  5. Hi Pepper! I hope you had a great birthday, the presents you got are amazing! The chairs look fabulous in their different colours and the drilling / milling machine is a superb piece of kit, it looks very complicated though!
    Whenever I see your shed I think it's real, the detailing and weathering is spot on! I really don't think you need to do any more to it.
    Have a lovely time in Scotland!
    Kind regards, Brian.

  11. Is that what grass looks like? I've forgotten after all these months of snow! It looks so lush and soft, perfect for a picnic. The hardware from your last post really looks nice on the doors and compliments the overall look of the building too. I look forward to seeing what you do with the drill :) And a big happy birthday! I hope you enjoy your time in Scotland.

  15. Hurray for Pepper! Happy birthday!! I don't care what age you are now, you are young at heart, that's for sure :) And that's all that matters! Awesome gifts, the chairs are simply gorgeous. Love they all have a different color. Best (to me, and I hope you'll like it too) is the Proxxon. Good tools, and this one sure is, will get you to places you've never been before. The main use for this milling machine is to ground out, or take down, surfaces like rough stock. Here's a basic intro to what it can do for you;

    The shed is amazing too. I love all the nails in the boards. Makes it look so life like!! And the overall finish you've given it is very good! Very real.

    1. Thank you Mandy. I wonder why it didn't work...I guess you need to experiment with different strengths of vinegar mix on different woods. The shed slats are just plywood =0/

  21. Hi Pepper! I would like to throw in my Birthday Congratulations to you too! I hate it when people try to guess my age and so I admire your tolerance when your co-workers decided to have a go! :( Regarless, of what the years may actually be, I know that you probably still feel like a kid, I know I do! :D
    I love your gifts!!!! Getting a drill press as a Birthday gift is MARVELOUS and so are your WISHBONE CHAIRS!
    People close to you are really paying attention, it seems, and that is ALWAYS A GOOD THING! :D
    I wish you a VERY Happy Birthday Year, Pepper!
