Giveaway with a difference

Since wandering into this wonderful world of miniature blogdom I've noticed there's sort of a convention when it comes to giveaways, year aniversary, 100th follower etc. Well I've decided I don't want to wait that long and b****er convention. This is a giveaway with a difference, and as a little thank you for the support and kindness I've had from you all.

So here's the deal. Anyone who wants to be entered into this giveaway just has to be a follower of this blog and say what they love about miniatures in the comments box below. The prize? Well...if I were to design something 12th scale it might go to someone who primarily has 3/4 scale. So, three winners will be randomly picked out and they get to decide what I make. This is your chance to let loose with the imagination and design your very own miniature.

My only stipulations are:

1) It must be a piece of furniture or lighting. No room boxes, fitted kitchens/bathrooms or complete houses =0/

2) I will make any size from 3/4" scale up to playscale (1:6)

3) Materials can be anything apart from precious metal/stone

Okay, if you want to enter you know what to do
Entries must be in by Friday 17th June 2011. The winners will be announced Saturday 18th June and have their designs completed and posted (worldwide) by 10th July 2011

Good luck =0)

MTA: Just a quick reiteration for anyone who is interested in the giveaway, you MUST be a follower and you just need to write a quick line about what you like about miniatures...any miniatures =0)

  1. Meee!! I love miniatures and I definitely have a soft spot for yours. :) I've been following you for a while, but I think I just clicked the actual thing yesterday.

    Excited if I get picked!

  2. Aw, how fun!!! I already know what I would pick - those marvelous metal chairs you made recently. Love them! For me personally, I love to see what we can all recreate in miniature and fool the eye into thinking it's real life sized.

  3. I just recently started following your blog, and am still planning on working on the couch tutorial! I have been collecting mini's for a couple of years now, primarily re-ment, but the past few months I stared making my own, and love it! My favorite thing about minis' is the amazing ability to make anything from life size into mini. I am always getting ideas around me, and from my own home. I like being able to trick they eye into not knowing if it is mini. What a generous giveaway! Thank you for the chance to win!

  4. What original giveaway I love it!!! And I would love to participate thank you so much for this oportunity, mini regards,Sonia.

  5. Hi! I would love to participate in your giveaway, so please count me in! And oh, I cannot choose what I would like the most, beacuse the design of your mini furniture and lamps is amazing!

  6. This is like a present from heaven.I am in ! :)

  7. Oh, how wonderful that you're having a give away!
What I love about miniature making is the chance to try out different ideas for a fraction of the time and cost it would take to try it out in real life. And of course it's also fun to try to make it look as real as possible :-)
I absolutely love your formica sample office table, so I would love a 3/4scale version of it. (Btw. if I'm not the lucky winner of the give away, I would love to buy one instead if possible)

  8. It would be super cool to win. I will start thinking of ideas.

I plan to make that awesome sofa from your tutorial.

  9. I followed you even before you blogged. I looked amazed at your flickr and asked from time to time if you were selling! I admire your expertise and wonder if one day I could come for a workshop!
( all the way from this wretched middle eastern land of ours which I happen to love)
I adore all you make- you are the best judge of what to make!

  10. Yeah, I don't usually follow the giveaway convention either. I'm not even sure how it started. I'm assuming it's because people feel the need for a giveaway? Who cares about that anywho, usually when I have something new and cool, I have a giveaway anyway.

As for what I love about miniatures.. well, because its a form of creativity and expression and I am all about that. I also find it a nice challenge in making items and then taking pictures where you can't tell that it's 1:12. And lastly it's easier and cheaper to make something in small scale than say a big honking bookcase in human scale.

  11. Hi,
Just found Your blog.. And I have to say - I like what I see a lot (^ ^)
    What an artist You are!

I'd LOVE to take part in Your giveaway, so will You please count me in...

Anything goes (in 1:12 scale) - all You make is so awesome..

(If something must be said... Maybe a chair would be nice.. I haven't yet learn to make them myself.. Or something for the garden...)

  12. HELLO!!!
I just adore your great work and art with minis, it's always a pleasure to visit your blog !!!
So continue with the good work!!!
I would love to participate in your giveaway.
Thank you very much for sharing your talent with us.
    Have a nice day!!
    Beatriz Martin

  13. I'm not sure I could properly articulate what it is about miniatures that I love & why they fascinate me, but I love what Susan Stewart wrote in On Longing about the miniature "..the world of things can open itself to reveal a secret life-indeed, to reveal a set of actions & hence a narrativity & history outside the given field of perception-is a constant daydream that the miniature presents".

In the unlikely event that I'm lucky enough to be one of the three, I'd love something in 1:16 scale. I think the formica desk you made is utterly fantastic & I'm in awe of your miniature making skills. A 1950's-esque sideboard in wood & formica for my Lundby Gothenberg house would be brilliant.

  14. Me me me! I love your work! CM

  15. Hello! I'm so glad I found your blog--your designs have so much style, and I love your tutorials. I am now a follower. What I love about miniatures is the opportunity to tell a story--with or without characters.

I would LOVE to win your giveaway and to feature one of your pieces in some of my miniature vignettes. I have both 50s and 70s themes in mind, and your furniture would look great--yay!

One thing I like about miniatures is that I both can make thing myself and buy beautiful minis. I also like to decorate houses and now have the opportunity to make much out of it.
